Stephanie Shapiro
A born and raised Delaware County girl
I graduated from Stamford Central School in 1996, (and yes, am proud to be able to say that I was a member of the 1995 state championship soccer team). From there, I went on to attend William Smith College in Geneva, NY, and majored in English, minored in Education and Psychology, and also graduated with teaching certifications in Special Education and Elementary Education. I believe my favorite part of college, however, would have to be my term abroad in New Zealand, during which I studied at the University of Auckland, and was also given the opportunity to teach in their schools.
After graduating college and teaching special education in Florida for a year, I moved back to Delaware County, and continued my special education work as an early intervention and itinerant teacher for Delaware County. From there, I moved on to teaching high school special education at Roxbury Central School, where I have taught since 2002, and continue my time at Roxbury as CSE Chair. During my time there, I completed a master's degree in Literacy at Oneonta State College, earned my English and Literacy certification and transitioned to teaching high school English. I have since transferred back to middle school special education after finding that there was much about the special education field that I missed, including the close personal relationships I was able to form with families.
I have four children of my own, and two (the only two old enough for school) currently attend Delaware Academy. I have found our move to the Delhi community to be welcoming and warm, much like my decision to join the Real Estate Plus! team.
Similar to the close ties that I formed with families in the special education field, the relationship formed between agents and their clients and customers should be of the utmost importance. I feel it is my job to truly understand the needs, motivations, abilities, and emotions of the people I work with, to ensure that the perfect fit is achieved. I am also an advocate of communication, above all, and can promise that I will work to ensure that remains a focal point of my agency relationships.
